HEY BIRDIES - do I have a post for you! Here are 6 volumes of rare, remixed, unreleased and unfinished tracks and remixes by Iceland's wonderful electronic outfit, GusGus! Each volume spans the GusGus timeline, from early to present days, and runs anywhere between 2.5 - 5 hours, with an estimated total time of 26 hours! None of these tracks can be found on any of the band's studio albums, and many have never even been officially released to the public!

If you are a GusGus fan, you are certain to find more than a mouthful in each volume. These are compilations I had made over the years for my own enjoyment, and I figured it was time to drop them into the feeder for you all to enjoy! So please, do ENJOY! GUSGUS - 30 Licks To The Gooey Center (NEW LINK!)

*Original Post: May 18, 2008 -- OK, so rather than post GusGus single after GusGus single, I am going to combine them into one really fabu package!

What we have here are remixes and b-sides from the new GG lineup. Tracks 1 through 8 are remixes from the album "Attention" from 2002. Tracks 9 and 10 are really great b-sides, while track 13 is from former frontman Daniel Agust's solo album "Swallowed A Star" from 2005. Track 12 is a 2 + 1/2 minute interview with the new GG! Then the rest are all remixes from their newest album, "Forever" from 2007. Track 11 is my personal favorite track off of that album. :o)

I really hope you all enjoy this! If you check this out, let me know what you think of it - even if you hate it.

TROMEO & JULIET - Expanded Motion Picture Soundtrack

HOWDY, HUMMERS! I've been so busy updating my electronic music posts that I nearly forgot to share with you this bad boy, which I put together a few months back. I know I have already posted the official CD soundtrack to Troma's wacky classic Shakespearean parody, Tromeo & Juliet, but over the years (decades), I was somewhat let down by the fact that some of my favorite songs from the movie were nowhere to be found on the OST. Well, now that has been remedied, as this has virtually every song featured in the movie, with the sole exception of the female vocal of "Shall We Gather At The River," because the singer was uncredited in the film's credits. But we now have a soundtrack that does the movie justice, and fans of the movie will no doubt recognize most of the new songs. I hope this makes someone out there happy. PLANET DOG: FEED YOUR HEAD (Vol. 1 - 3) (NEW LINK)

Taking a break from the classic Goa/psytrance releases for a spell, I thought I'd update the links for this excellent trio of ambient/dub/downtempo compilations from Planet Dog Records. Featuring many Planet Dog regulars, such as Eat Static, Banco de Gaia, Children of the Bong, and more, each of these compilations is a bliss and a half.

I do realize there is a 4th volume in this series, but at the time of my original posting (February 29, 2008) I was not aware of this. I have yet to get my wings around a copy, but now that it's fresh in my mind, perhaps I will seek it out and add it to the feeder..

A mixture of dark, futuristic sci-fi psychedelia with a pinch of industrial and maybe even a little downtempo for good measure, 'Witchcraft' is an album that ages like a fine wine; it takes a few listens to digest, but becomes more delicious each time you hear it. A 12" remix EP, released in 1998 by Flying Rhino Records, consisting of the original version of 'Confusional State', which was released on the FRR compilation, Third Flight: Slipstream, as well as a frenetic remix by Danny Howells. Awesome and delicious dark Goa/psychedelic trance, marking a time when the winds of trance were making a pronounced shift.

PSYKO DISKO - Sikamoto 12"

HI AGAIN, BIRDS - As I've been updating my 10-year + abandoned posts, I've come to the classic Goa and psychedelic trance gems, and I'm giddy with excitement. While this is a new post, it coincides with my next post, which will be an updated link to Psyko Disko's full-length, self-titled album from Flying Rhino Records/PSY-Harmonics. 

Psyko Disko were a psytrance outfit hailing from Australia, consisting of Steve (Stiv) 'Psyko' Lavell and Fred Disko, with occasional accompaniment by legendary Oz-synthwave guru, Ollie Olsen. This 12" release was released by Nephilim Records and further presents Psyko Disko's undoubtedly original take on the rising electronic wave which would come to be known as psychedelic trance, or, simply, psytrance.

Original Post: March 11, 2008: Another Netlabel free release, this time from Neovinyl Netlabel. Baldo has put out one heck of a techno-house EP! This is really laid back and pretty, yet totally danceable at the same time.

My personal favorite from the entire label. But you should go check them out - they have some really awesome stuff!

Here's the word on Baldo, from the Neovinyl website:

Baldo, born 1983 in Jaén (Spain), breathes all the musical styles that are cooked during the following two decades in his country. Conscious of his love for the music, it's in the year 2000 when he acquires his first DJ equipment. Thus begins a way marked by a constant search of innovation.
In 2001 he moves to Málaga. In a little time he established in the electronic scene of Malaga and begins to play in different Clubs of the city, proposing an electronic and minimalist alternative to the House predominant trend. Later, he plays at important clubs of the Spanish circuit, like Metrodanceclub (Alicante) or Miga Club (Granada).

In 2005, with two companions founds Neovinyl. It's in that time when he initiates his career as electronic music producer. After he meets Carlo, who joins to the Neovinyl project.
In April of 2007 Baldo edits in Neovinyl his debut EP, "Shooting Star", where he shows the deep and pop side of his productions.

This is one of the coolest (in my opinion) releases from Spanish netlabel, Flumo. El Txef A is one of the most unique and original electronic acts to come around in a really long time.

I'm posting this mainly because my favorite writer, Dennis Cooper, is involved. As a strictly audio experience, this comes across as something very Lee Ranaldo/Sonic Youth-esque, with a really dark, bitter and depressing edge.
