ZOMBIE ZOMBIE - "A Land For Renegades"
ZOMBIE ZOMBIE - "A Land For Renegades" (2008)
I am in love with this album! Seriously. As a fellow horror-based electronic musician, I am always thrilled to death to hear other people who like to cross the two themes without getting all gabber/hardcore.
So supposedly the story with this album is that the sounds and patterns are meant to give give you the same emotional responses that you get from watching a really intense, horrifying movie. And to tell you the truth, that is exactly what it does! Not that this is really scary or dark, mind you! It is really dancey and the vocals are sometimes very catchy and memorable. That's what makes this album so clever!
I highly recommend this to other techno-horror hounds!

DJ ME DJ YOU -- "Simplemachinerock"
DJ ME DJ YOU - "Simplemachinerock" (1999)
Here's a really cool electronica/trip-hop EP from DJ Me DJ You. It has a neat retro psychedelic feel to it, and some really off the wall sampling. This was released in 1999 on the Emperor Norton label.
DJMDJY is Craig Borell and Ross Harris, and also have a band called The Inner Thumb.
for more info on these guys go here.

CHICKS ON SPEED - "Chix-52"
CHICKS ON SPEED - "Chix-52" EP (2000)
You might have noticed that I have moved both of my B-52's posts to the top of the blog again. Usually this is something I would have done for the simple reason that I am a borderline fanatic, but really I wanted it to tie in nicely with this simply AWESOME single from Chicks On Speed, which just happens to contain 3 really unique and interesting covers of 3 of my very favorite songs by the B's! Although, really, I could say that they are all my favorite...
This is really artsy technopop from Germany that quite often finds its way into my ears! If you like this, you should check out more albums from Chicks On Speed!

THE B-52'S - "Rare Stuff"
THE B-52's - "Rare Stuff" (1979 - 1989)
Here's a collection that I got about 7 years ago from a guy named Aaron in Denver who supposedly knows the B's. I only met him once, but he was a really neat guy. I think I might have scared him a little bit, but um... that's a different story... back to the music.
These songs are extremely rare and hard to find. Way more so than the Mesopotamia remixes I posted earlier. The first track is a wonderful version of 52 Girls, sung an octave lower than the version on their first LP. The second track, 'Don't Worry', was originally part of the "Whammy!" album from 1983, and was a cover of a Yoko Ono song. But the Wicked Yoko of the West sued them and made them take it off the album. So it was scrapped and replaced with 'Moon 83', which is an update/remix of their song 'There's A Moon In The Sky (Called The Moon)'.
Then, we have alternate versions (possibly remixes?) of 3 songs from "Mesopotamia". These are excellent versions, and I have absolutely no idea where they came from. Next is a song with the Ramones! A silly one called 'Chop Suey'. Silly good, not silly bad.
Then there's a couple of really neat DJ medlies, and 2 WICKED remixes of tracks from their first album, 'Planet Claire' and 'Rock Lobster'.
**I have no idea who did the remixes on these tracks, with the exception of DJ Soul Slinger's insane Jungle/Drum'n'Bass remix of 'Rock Lobster'. If you have ANY additional information, please contact me, because not only would I like to post it here, but for my own peace of mind as well.
