Ah, Troma. I wonder what kind of a bird I would be today if I hadn't gleefully corrupted my mind with this film company's gloriously ridiculous and campy low budget insanity at such a young and impressionable age? Psh. I don't think I'd want to know him.

Anyway, this CD was released in 1994 to celebrate 20 years of Troma Team Video madness. It includes theme songs from various movies, as well as audio clips from various trailers and an interview with Troma president and co-founder, Lloyd Kaufman!

What to say about this movie, other than it's a heck of a good reaction movie, meaning it is a fun movie to show to other people to watch their reactions. This movie garnered an underground cult following, because it was softcore/B-movie actress Misty (Erin Brown) Mundae's on-screen debut as a sassy, druggie party-goer appearing in the film's second half. The film itself, wielding a transgression and budget that makes early John Waters films look like Hallmark movies, concerns itself with Winston Strange (pronounced Strangé), who decides to throw a totally bitchin' house party, inviting random high school students from all over town to attend. The kids arrive with their attitudes and deviant behaviors (and good lord, some of these people are complete lunatics) in tow, and they all start to get loose. Little do they know, Winston planned this party as a welcome home party, of sorts, for his deranged brother, Miles, who happens to have an uncontrollable strangulation fetish - oh, and who also happens to have just escaped from (walked out of) the nearby psychiatric institution. Needless to say, countless throats are throttled until one terrified teenager (Misty/Erin) is left.

I know you're thinking, what's so crazy about that description that makes this such a good "reaction movie"? Oh, believe me. This gets crazy over-the-top and offensive. For instance, there's an extremely graphic coat hanger abortion scene (and I do mean graphic), which I have seriously lost friends over. But whatever, it's just a movie. If you can't laugh at life, you can't laugh with me.

ANYWAY - The soundtrack is extremely fitting to the movie. Severed Lips' (officially naming their film outlet 'Factory 2000' with this movie) films were known for their trippy, bare-bones synth and grunge/garage rock soundtracks, primarily because Severed Lips was first and foremost a lineup of local New Jersey bands, whose members made up a meat of the cast from the label's early films. REDNECK ZOMBIES - Music To Die For - Original Film Score Composed By Adrian Bond (1988)



This soundtrack came as a 2nd disc in the limited edition of the 20th Anniversary release of the "Tromasterpiece", Redneck Zombies, one of  Troma Team Video's biggest selling movie titles. The movie is everything the title suggests, and then some. From the DVD sleeve: "When a clan of hillbilly dirt farmers turn a misplaced barrel of chemical waste into a whiskey still, going blind is the least of their worries as the toxic moonshine turns them into REDNECK ZOMBIES! Now they're ready to invite a group of wayward yankees to a down-home feast of southern-fried gore and mayhem that will turn your stomach and tickle your funny bone! So, grab a seat and set a spell with your favorite gut-chompin', tobacco-chewin' cannibal kinfolk from Hell in REDNECK ZOMBIES!"

And it's no lie, I love this soundtrack just as much as I love the movie. What seems like a cheesy, bare-bones synth score when paired with the cheesy, bare-bones (but wonderfully entertaining) movie is a whole different ball game when listened to as its own entity. This score is legitimately awesome, with some extremely fun, and even trippy, synth compositions that are way ahead of their time. Defintely recommended for Troma fans, soundtrack buffs, and fans of synth music.

I was going to post this on Valentine's Day, but I was too busy wallowing in my own self pity... ;-)

So here you go - one of my favorite b-horror/romance movies of all time, with much of the same cast of the previous Tempe soundtrack I posted, "Polymorph", including James L. Edwards, Ariauna Albright, and Sasha Graham. This one also features two of my favorites, Scooter McCrae and Tina Krause.

I guess the making of this movie was ten times worse than Hell, for many reasons, and it ended a lot of close personal friendships. Which really sucks, but the good thing is that you really can't tell in their performances. Everyone did a really great job. Tina Krause was even sick with pneumonia when she was filming her scenes, but you couldn't really tell. It might have even added to her character.

Here's the film's synopsis from the Tempe website:


SYNOPSIS: Serena Stalin wanted to learn from the best. So she tracked down Butch Harlow, one of the world's most notorious serial killers, and blackmailed him into teaching her the fine art of murder. Now, as the lessons begin, as the teacher and his bloodthirsty student leave a trail of horribly mutilated victims in their wake, they are about to uncover the horrible secrets that bind them together, the unspeakable passion that forces them to kill, over and over again...


Once again, this is a really good soundtrack. It has the same feel as the movie, and is never boring. I think you will like this one. I have also included the original screenplay.

MATTHEW JASON WALSH - "Polymorph" (1996)



This score is from the sci-fi horror spoof, "Polymorph", from one of my favorite film labels, Tempe Video. This film stars B-horror veterans James L. Edwards, Ariauna Albright, Sasha Graham and Pete Jacelone. Here's the film's synopsis, taken from the Tempe website:


SYNOPSIS: Called deep into the forest to help search for a fallen meteorite, a group of interns instead discover an isolated cabin with a dead body inside — and a lethal gang of drug-runners there to protect their investment. But the dead body has risen again, and it holds a dark secret that will soon reveal itself...

Little do they know, the meteorite has brought with it an organism that can emulate anything it comes into contact with. Soon, their transportation is cut off...nobody knows exactly who’s who...and no one is quite sure how to kill something that they can’t even find!


The score is pretty cool. It ranges from funny to spacey, from cheesy to serious. I like it a lot, it has a neat variety on it, and it keeps the feelings from the film's scenes. There's 40 tracks in all, so I am not going to list them all on here. They are all labeled correctly in the zip file, and numbered.

THE PINK DELICATES - "Roxanna" (2002)



Not only the best Seduction Cinema score out there, but one of the coolest film scores I have ever heard. I don't want to build it up too much by saying that though... it just really fit my tastes in music! Trippy, psychedelic instrumental rock that stands on its own as a really good album! The Pink Delicates are: Kevin Neblung on guitar and bass, and John Fedele on drums and organ.

The movie, starring Misty Mundae, Josh Robinson (Blood For The Muse), Syn DeVil, and Darian Caine, is another dark'n'stark sexy remake of the ultra-erotic softcore 1970 grindhouse classic from Nick Philips.

TIM TOMORROWS - "Lustful Addiction" (2002)



Another Seduction Cinema score, this time from one of my favorite SC films, 'Lustful Addiction', written, directed and starring the one and only Misty Mundae (aka Erin Brown). Co-starring Ruby LaRocca and Darian Caine, this is a gritty, psychedelic, twisted, and yes - even incredibly sexy remake of the 1969 Nick Philips grindhouse classic of the same name.

This score is from Tim Tommorows, who worked a lot with Seduction Cinema/E.I. Independent Cinema - not only musically, but as an actor too, with roles in movies like Spiderbabe, Lord of the G-Strings, Gladiator Eroticvs, and The Girl Who Shagged Me. But, um... don't let that dissuade you from checking this out, because musically, this guy is fantastic! Also features Dane Johnson on slide guitar and organ, and John Fedele (another S.C. favorite) on drums!

DON MIKE - "Dr. Jekyll & Mistress Hyde" (2004)



Here's a really cool score from the Seduction Cinema film, 'Dr. Jekyll & Mistress Hyde'. This is one of the darker, artsier films from SC, from director Anthony Marsiglia (Lust For Dracula, Sin Sisters, Chantal). The film is sort of a psycho-sexual acid trip version of Jekyll, which despite the copious amounts of nudity and lesbian sex, follows the original story line surprisingly well. Shades of David Lynch's "Mulholland Dr." can be found, as well as amazing cinematography and this really cool soundtrack from musician Don Mike.

A neat-o score that I've listened to quite a few times.
