OK my fine feathered music lovers, it has been a great run - 13 groovy months! Thank you for all the wonderful comments and support!

BUT the time has come for me to abandon my blog. As some of you may know, I am a musician myself, and I have been really busy with that lately, so I have not had any time to post anything on here. That is why the posts have been so few and far between lately.

SO NOW'S THE TIME FOR FAREWELL! I will leave the posts the way they are, but once the download links expire, that's that. I will not be re-uploading any albums, and I will not be posting any more.

Once again, I thank each and every one of you that has fed from my feeder! Maybe one of these days I will revive the blog, but I am not holding my breath, so neither should you. But really, it's not like there aren't a million other blogs you can sink your beaks into! Check out the blogs on my blogroll! There's some really nifty ones to migrate to.

I finally found the GG track 'Lactic'! Someone requested this quite a while ago, and thanks to an anonymous friend, I tracked down a copy! It is 192 kbps, but still sounds pretty darn good. The track was used in a Levi's jeans commercial and was released as a promo cd for a very brief moment. It is essentially an 11-minute, entirely instrumental techno remix of the song 'Acid Milk', which appeared on the 1999 album "This is Normal". I really like this mix - it is really infectious and easy to dance to. Turn it up really loud and move - Enjoy!

This single takes me back to the days right after high school, when I was living in Longmont, CO and going to raves on a nightly basis. Wow. Those were some crazy times! I had some friends that I would drive out into the middle of nowhere with, park on the side of the road, blast some techno music and jam out under the stars. It was awesome! I can't believe that was almost a decade ago!

Anyway, these are some of the songs we would go nuts to. I especially love the 2nd track, "Impenetrable Sayonara". I hope you all enjoy it at least half as much as I did back then.

Here's the 1996 reissue, still on Tunnel records, so you can compare for yourselves. I really like the track "This", which replaced "It" from the original version. The one thing I really don't like about this version (perhaps the only thing) is that they cut out the entire first half (like 5 or 6 minutes) of "The 5th Dimension (Live In Paris)". That sort of bummed me out. But this is still a great album!

This reissue (subtitled "In The Mix), contained a QuickTime file of the music video for the song "This". You can find that HERE! :o)

X-DREAM - "Trip To Trancesylvania" (Original Version) (1993)

Check it out! This is the debut album from X-Dream, released on Tunnel records in 1993. This version was eventually scrapped, and then made over and transformed into a new version in 1996. In this version the tracks are individual and do not fade in and out from one another. In the later version, the track order is rearranged, and the songs are mixed together. They also scrapped the entire first half of "The 5th Dimension (Live In Paris)", and dropped the track "It" and replaced it with "This". After the re-issue, this one became out of print, and is now quite a little Goa Trance collector's item. As for which is the better version, it is really hard to decide. Both find their way into my stereo and out of my speakers equally.

Which is just more proof that they are absolute masters of their craft!

I'm moving this one back up to keep the continuity flowing... This is the first GusGus album without Daniel Agust and Hafdis Huld. In fact, really the only people present on this one are Biggi Viera, Herb Legowitz and Alfred Moore. It is completely instrumental and has a distinct house feel, yet it still oozes with the original GusGus sound. Sadly, this would be the last album from them to have this unique and artistic feel to it. Not that their newer stuff is bad, mind you, it is just a lot different than their older stuff and has a more (dare I say) generic dance music feel to it.

Also an important side note is that T-World was a pre-GusGus duo consisting of Herb Legowitz and Birgir Thorarinsson. The track "Anthem" was originally recorded by them back in 1994, and was virtually the same, except it had sort of chanting-style vocals along with it. Track 7 was co-written by a man creditied as Hendrik, which according to discogs.com is his only musical credit.

So this is a really rare NIN bootleg that I used to have on cassette tape back in high school. I basically worshipped Trent Reznor back then. I had pretty much everything he ever recorded, and somehow this was probably my favorite thing, which is weird, because it's just a DJ mix of different tracks of his - and mixed pretty badly I might add, but still - there's something about this Rusty Nails series that sucked me in. There are some really cool and rare remixes and unreleased tracks on here! But my only complaint is that my cassette tape is long gone, and after extensive search on the internet, the only copies I could find were 128 kbps quality mp3s, which are all individual files. I couldn't find one long track that keeps the music flowing - so if any of you good peeps know where I can get a hold of one, I would be extremely grateful!

I am not really one to use this cyber-expression too often, but for this one I feel that it is totally appropriate --- OMG!

This album is so incredibly awesome! It has a totally fantastic 80's synth-pop feel, that builds and builds into a nearly overpowering, spacey - yet completely heartwarming - mental blob of light, swirly melodies, throbbing yet soothing basslines and beautiful, catchy and thoughtful lyrics!

To be totally honest, I fell deep in love with this album within the first 20 seconds. So if you can't make it through the first song, you're probably not going to care for the rest of it. But if you have good tastes like your own Mr. Hummingbird, then you are going to really dig it!

I got this one from Electro-Premium. Go check them out, because they have some great electronic goodies stored in their cheeks.

I know I talk up a lot of the albums I post, but with this album, please please believe me when I say that this is one of my absolute most favorite albums in the world! Fuzzbox was an all-girl band out of the UK. They began as a super fun punk group and ended up a polished, glampop band. This is their first album, and in my opinion, their best.

A fuzzbox is used for distortion FX on a guitar, and aptly named, these girls do indeed have a fuzzbox and they are not afraid to use it! Every song on this album is pure gold - you owe it to yourself to check it out!

Each of these remix EPs from Planet Clique records had extremely limited availability when they came out (I'm talking like 1000 copies each, and only sold for a couple of months). Now, as an admitted B-52's fanatic, I have to say that when I listened to these for the first time, I was so happy I was bouncing up and down in glee, squealing like a little girl. NEURO NET RECORDINGS: A 3-Part Compilation by Rabid Hummingbird

This is a compilation I made of tracks from one of the very first techno labels I ever got into, Neuro Net Recordings. NNR was a Japanese label, specializing in hypnotic, melodic and sometimes psychotic electronic dance music circa 1995-2000. A lot of these freaking wonderful tracks have a really lo-fi old-school feel to them, which make this seem like a special piece in the techno time capsule (at least for me, I guess).

Unfortunately, NNR is no longer around and I only had their music on cassette tape until recently, when I came across an archive site that had something called the NNR Mega Compilation 2006. They had a vast majority of the Neuro Net tracks that I was familiar with on 128kbps MP3s. I was in heaven. You can't find these tracks anywhere! So I took a bunch of them and rearranged them into 3 compilations that I thought flow together very smoothly, yet showcases the labels mind-blowingly ecclectic variety of styles!

Known in the past for their explosive psytrance and/or goa, X-Dream have completely broken through their pigeon-hole and set forth with a new sound, this time including a female vocalist who is known simply as Ariel. And apparently, the incredible electro duo are no longer going by the names Rough & Rush - they have unveiled to us, along with their new sound, their actual names - Marcus C. Maichel and Jan Muller!

X-Dream's new sound is hard to describe - but it is flat-out heavy, futuristic techno! Ariel's vocals are computer-synthed and hypnotic. There are some major monsters on this one, folks! Do not pass this one up!

I am in love with this album! Seriously. As a fellow horror-based electronic musician, I am always thrilled to death to hear other people who like to cross the two themes without getting all gabber/hardcore.

So supposedly the story with this album is that the sounds and patterns are meant to give give you the same emotional responses that you get from watching a really intense, horrifying movie. And to tell you the truth, that is exactly what it does! Not that this is really scary or dark, mind you! It is really dancey and the vocals are sometimes very catchy and memorable. That's what makes this album so clever!

I highly recommend this to other techno-horror hounds!

Here's a collection that I got about 7 years ago from a guy named Aaron in Denver who supposedly knows the B's. I only met him once, but he was a really neat guy. I think I might have scared him a little bit, but um... that's a different story... back to the music.

These songs are extremely rare and hard to find. Way more so than the Mesopotamia remixes I posted earlier. The first track is a wonderful version of 52 Girls, sung an octave lower than the version on their first LP. The second track, 'Don't Worry', was originally part of the "Whammy!" album from 1983, and was a cover of a Yoko Ono song. But the Wicked Yoko of the West sued them and made them take it off the album. So it was scrapped and replaced with 'Moon 83', which is an update/remix of their song 'There's A Moon In The Sky (Called The Moon)'.

Then, we have alternate versions (possibly remixes?) of 3 songs from "Mesopotamia". These are excellent versions, and I have absolutely no idea where they came from. Next is a song with the Ramones! A silly one called 'Chop Suey'. Silly good, not silly bad.

Then there's a couple of really neat DJ medlies, and 2 WICKED remixes of tracks from their first album, 'Planet Claire' and 'Rock Lobster'.

**I have no idea who did the remixes on these tracks, with the exception of DJ Soul Slinger's insane Jungle/Drum'n'Bass remix of 'Rock Lobster'. If you have ANY additional information, please contact me, because not only would I like to post it here, but for my own peace of mind as well.

What we have here are remixes and b-sides from the new GG lineup. Tracks 1 through 8 are remixes from the album "Attention" from 2002. Tracks 9 and 10 are really great b-sides, while track 13 is from former frontman Daniel Agust's solo album "Swallowed A Star" from 2005. Track 12 is a 2 + 1/2 minute interview with the new GG! Then the rest are all remixes from their newest album, "Forever" from 2007. Track 11 is my personal favorite track off of that album. :o)

This is a really awesome and different album! Its not techno at all, but it was all made using a sampler. It is really experimental and unique and very very odd. It's right up my alley, but it's definitely not for everyone...

I picked this up at Egg City Radio, and since they did a good job explaining it (and because I'm feeling lazy), I'm going to let them do it for me:

This is one of those discs that I’m not surprised slipped through the cracks after it came out ten years ago. According to one review from a very un-updated music site called BabySue.com, the thing is a one-man effort from someone called Keith Fancy:

“Disque 9 sounds something like listening to two movies on cable while a radio is playing in the background and the refrigerator is on the blink. These are not songs in the traditional sense of the word. Mr. Fancy jumbles, distorts, and disassembles pieces of music in such a way that there really aren’t discipherable melodies or words. Instead, these songs are like fragments and snippets of songs all tied together in a most confusing manner. In the end, however, this obtuse little collection of ‘tunes’ doesn’t really sound like anything else I’ve heard of late…and for that alone, this gets high marks in the ‘land of the baby.’ Eerie and dream-like. Neat.”

Lord Above, this is a chill-inducing album! I love love love this album, and I can't express that enough. But really, I can say that pretty easily about any Makyo album.

Makyo is Giovanni Fazio, the American-born, but Japan-inhabiting Master of the Deep Unconscious. This is his very first release, on Entropica records in 1995. It's a bit more dancey than his second album, "Shringara", which I posted a while back, but this is still super laid back and chill, with that whole opium-den vibe that completely drips from each of his albums.

Hehehe... that picture always puts a sick joke in my head...

Oh man, I probably listened to this album as much as I watched the movie as a kid! I was all about the Goonies! Heck, I'm still all about the Goonies - I won't lie!

This is the story of how the Goonies saved the Goondocks, as narrated by Chunk!

This is really funny as an adult. And if you've seen the movie a million times, which I'm sure you have, then you will probably laugh when Chunk mispronounces Data's name (which is literally every single time). Wasn't he a part of the movie? Didn't he know that he was saying the name wrong over and over again? Or did his opinion not even matter? I guess he should be lucky that he was even on the album, because over half of the voices are obviously different people than from the film. OH well, this is still tons of fun, and is like a retro mushroom-slap to the face! It even includes the entire read-along booklet!

You'll know that it's time to turn the page when you hear the chimes ring, like THIS!

This is a really fun album! Check it out, because it is guaranteed to put a huge grin on your face! Especially the first and last songs! This is one of the better kids' show disco albums out there... (of which there are more than you would think). Love it or hate it, you'll still probably make it to the end pretty easily. I like this album a lot, in a Mystery Science Theater 3000 sort of way... There isn't a moment you can't make fun of.

Also note, this one sports the vocal talents of disco-boogie legend, Robin Gibb! Hoooyeah!

To start off my Retro Kids' section, I thought I would post what I think is quite possibly the most INSANE thing I have ever heard in my life! NO JOKE!

Released almost immediately after the Aileen Quinn blockbuster, this little jaunt into musical happiness and physical fitness(!) is cram-packed with wholesome racism and sexual creepiness, and even condones kidnapping! How can you pass this one up?

This album is drastically more fun than one could ever hope for! Granted, I was an "Annieholic" as a youngster, but even now, much older, and with my jaded, perverted sense of humor, this album is almost addictive. Why, you ask? Or better yet - HOW? Well, let me lay down the story...

So one day at the Warbucks Mansion, a very busy Oliver Warbuck answers a knock at the door. It's a travelling "fitness salesman", Professor Fitness and his "No Flab Revue". The guy sounds suspiciously like T.K. Carter, from Punky Brewster. He tries desperately to persuade Daddy Warbucks into getting off his fat, lazy ass and do some calisthenics! After some major resistance ("The man is obviously insane! Punjab! Get this man out of here!"), the lovable penny-pincher eventually caves in, grabs Annie and Mrs. Farrell and they all cut a rug - to instrumental disco versions of songs from the musical!

BUT WAIT - It gets better (and much, much weirder)!

So they all decide to go to the park and do some more exercising there. And that the more is, in fact, all the merrier. So they decide to randomly kidnap people against their will (really, I swear) and force them into dancing away their excess flab!

I want to say that children's records don't get any weirder than this, but I've found some doozies and plan on posting them as well!

I am going to post some really wacky retro kids' stuff, to soothe the psychotic inner child in me (and hopefully some of you too).

Don't worry, I haven't turned into a children's blog - In a weird way, these will fit the trippy/psychedelic theme that my page has got going (for the most part).

Ok, ok... this is my last R.D.J. album for a little while, I promise (unless someone asks me to keep going...)

This is probably my favorite EP from Aphex Twin, although it is definitely the shortest. 3 of the tracks are under 2 minutes, but are still smashers! The opening track is AMAZING, incorporating classical music with insanely fabulous IDM beats. I can not stop listening to this one!

Also, the song "Milk Man" is one of the funniest Aphex Twin songs ever (running close with "Funny Little Man" from the 'Come To Daddy' EP).

Please enjoy this one. If you like really creative and original electronic music, I can almost promise you you'll love it.
